The Manchester & District Snooker League is a newly formed snooker league for the purpose of promoting the sport as well as giving a platform for amateur players to play competitive snooker in a friendly and sportsman like environment.
The new league has been formed with a wealth of experience within the running both club teams and several snooker competitions.
Peter Hunt brings with him over 40 years experience of running the Manchester Snooker League where he was Chairman for 40 years, Secretary for over 10 years and Treasurer for the last 2 years. He is also the Tournament Director for the successful “Greater Manchester Inter League Snooker Tournament” which is held annually for leagues to compete against each other and also set up the GMIL website so not only can leagues view updated information, but to promote the Tournament to other snooker leagues. As well as this, Peter also co-ordinates with Ron Green in the running of the Summer League Competition and thanks to the hard work they both put in secured sponsorships to enable a total prize fund of over £4000 for the 2008 Competition. Ron himself brings experience from running several club teams over the years as well as founding the Summer League Competition.
Both the GMIL and Summer League Competitions are to be recognised as individual tournaments, not to be controlled by any league body and are to have their own committees and meetings.

There has been a lot of interest in the new league, so far we have secured £1500 of starting funds. In addition to this, sponsors have pledged a further £1000 and we hope to attract more with a better sponsorship package.
